Ozias Bvute the new National Assembly representative for Goromonzi North on a Zanu PF ticket is a banker and businessman with various portfolios and interests in entities local and regional.
Prior to becoming a legislator, Bvute had no other known political post but was an ordinary member of Zanu PF.
Under the wave of various young upstarts Bvute, who is in his early forties, contested the Zanu PF primary elections in Goromonzi North and clinched the seat after defeating Nyasha Matsika and Kudzai Majuru.
Bvute is a businessman and his notable interest is in Metropolitan Bank where is a non-executive board member.
He is also the board chair of the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ).
Previously he has been the chief executive of Zimbabwe Cricket having replacing Vincent Hogg and later becoming the head of the Integration Implementation Committee which sought to ‘develop a comprehensive plan that would ensure full and equitable nationwide integration of Zimbabwean cricket”.
Bvute was later to be posted to the position of head of marketing before resigning after various altercations with players like Henry Olonga and Andy Flower.
As a businessman, Bvute has previously set up companies in Botswana and Namibia both of which later folded under unclear circumstances.
He was a board member of the Namibian SME Bank before it was taken over by the Bank of Namibia in March 2017.
Bvute’s MetBank has been accused of owing various parastatals huge sums of money which have not been paid back and he has been the subject of intense speculation relating to his alleged use of political connections to push through shady deals.
Bvute holds a Bachelor’s of Commerce in Banking and Finance from India’s Puna University.
He is also a published author having written a book titled Reflections earlier this year.
