Former Vice President Joice Mujuru’s National People’s Party (NPP) is in apparent disintegration after suffering a mass back to back exodus with the latest one being the defection of members of its youth wing, national and provincial members to Zanu PF.
In a resignation letter (copied below) addressed to Mujuru, about 24 party members who held various positions in NPP abandoned the liberation war hero with immediate effect.

In reaction to the mass resignation NPP acting president issued a backdated press statement on the 4th of December claiming to have fired the resigned members, in a typical image saving attempt.
“After intensive investigations, consultation of the rank and file of party leadership and following of thorough due processes; the Party has fired the following NPP members from their positions effective today Monday the 4th of December 2017. The below mentioned relieved members have been working with Zanu PF and were even pushing for our President Dr JTR Mujuru to rejoin Zanu PF, it is important though to note that Dr Mujuru has no intention nor has she ever considered rejoining Zanu PF, she is the leader of NPP and Presidential candidate of the People’s Rainbow Coalition ( PRC)…
“The party is also advising several provincial members that have been attending clandestine Zanu PF meetings to desist forthwith or face the same fate. The People’s struggle has been deferred many times because of selfishness and the love for money and material things of leaders and it shall not be deferred any longer. We stand guided in pushing the agenda of a Zimbabwe with equal opportunities for all citizens in an all-inclusive dispensation that benefits all and sundry.
“The party is also aware of several stage -managed defections that have been lined up across the ten provinces of NPP leadership with the involvement of certain NPP provincial leadership.
NB: the above mentioned fired members seize to be NPP members immediately”, reads part of the statement.
The resigning members are said to have defected to Zanu PF after raising concerns over Mujuru’s poor leadership skills.
Mujuru made headlines after she was fired from Zanu PF for allegedly trying to takeover power from then party President Robert Mugabe through unscrupulous means.
Famed for gunning down Rhodesian chopper during the liberation struggle in the 70s, Mujuru is currently planning to go head to head against President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Morgan Tsvangirai and various others in the 2018 General elections.
As her ship sinks, Mujuru is said to be in Liberia attending a 3 day conference for politician’s wives where she is a specil guest of honour.
