President Emerson Mnangagwa and opposition MDC leader Nelson Chamisa have sent their condolence messages following the death of Vimbayi Tsvangirai Java on Monday afternoon.
Tsvangirai, who was the Member of Parliament for Glenview South, succumbed to injuries she sustained in a road traffic accident near Kwekwe that claimed the life of two other MDC members.
Writing on his Twitter page, President Mnangagwa said the incident was heartbreaking
“Very sad to learn of the tragic passing of Hon Vimbai Tsvangirai – Java. May her memory be a blessing and a comfort to all that knew her, and may she rest in eternal peace,” President Mnangagwa said.
Java, 36, was recently elected the MDC women assembly secretary-general.
Chamisa, in a statement said the tragic death of the MDC Legislator was sad and leaves a blow to the MDC family.
“The passing on of recently elected Women Assembly Sec Gen Hon Vimbai Tsvangirai -Java comes as a sad blow to us all. This comes at a time when the MDC family is yet to fully recover upon the passing on of Our Icon Dr MT. Vimbai was a rising star whose value is without debate,” said Chamisa.
