Heal Zimbabwe Trust in peace campaigns ahead of 2018 elections |#Ivote4PeaceZW

Heal Zimbabwe Trust, an organization focused on rebuilding national cohesion through promotion of tolerance and co-existence in local communities says there are set to embark on community campaigns across the country against hooliganism and violence ahead of the 2018 elections.
In a statement HZT said the peace campaign was being rolled out to conscientise rural communities on the importance of peace in preparation of elections.
The campaigns are running under the theme “I am a peace champion”.
“The objective of the campaign is to raise awareness on the need for communities to prevent electoral violence and mobilise community members to make pledges for peace ahead of the 2018 elections”.
The campaigns have already been started in Makoni West ward 12, Manicaland province.
The campaign was done through the mobilization of community members engaging in road patching, with the local leadership in attendance.
“The nhimbe ran under the theme “I am a peace champion”. The nhimbe saw the peace club mobilise community members to repair a road that leads to a local school,Mupoperi Primary School. In attendance were 73 people (44 female, 29 male and 21 youths).The meeting was also attended by Village heads Chitsa,Mupoperi and Musariri.Councillor Obert Gonzo who is also the peace club chairperson, also attended the nhimbe,” read part of the statement.
HZT operates in 15 Districts across Zimbabwe is holding campaigns with the intention of setting benchmarks of the culture of peace and promoting peaceful cohesion of people from diverse political grounds.
HZT was founded in 2008 when the political situation in Zimbabwe was tense and its existence has been justified.
