I didn’t know CDF disbursement has been delayed says Mthuli

By Staff Reporter

Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli has told Parliament he was not aware that disbursement of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has been delayed.

CDF was introduced during the time of the Inclusive Government with a view to helping legislators to champion development in their constituencies.

Chitungwiza North legislator Godfrey Sithole had wanted to know the reasons for the hold up in the disbursement of the fund.

However, in his response Minister Mthuli Ncube said “I was not aware that there was a major hold up on the CDF disbursement.  I will look into that as soon as possible.  I just was not aware that there is a specific hold up,” he said.

Speaker of National Assembly Jacob Mudenda concurred with Honourable Sithole adding that legislators are concerned by the issue.

CDF has become important as it is being used to drill boreholes in various constituencies to avert water challenges being experienced in the country.
