People are the Supreme Court of all politics, says Chamisa

By James Martin

MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa appears to have thrown a jibe at the recent Supreme Court judgement that declared Thokozani Khupe as the legitimate acting president of MDC-T.

The judgement also saw Douglas Mwonzora and Morgan Komichi jumping ship to the Khupe faction in what appeared like a long-planned move.

However, following threads of massive support and show of loyalty from both senior party members and followers, Chamisa used his Twitter handle to hint that he might not have been shaken by the outcome of the court.

“People are the Supreme Court of all politics! Thank you, Jesus, for all the good people around us,” Chamisa wrote.

He added: “Darkness heralds new dawn! People are never hijackable!”

The Supreme Court judgement also compelled Khupe to organise an extraordinary congress using the 2014 structures, however, the majority of senior members who constitute the 2014 structures have distanced themselves from the Khupe and are rallying behind Chamisa.
